Lot No. 1 Design-Build of “Ruse – Byala” Section (up to the road junction with Road I-5 “Ruse – Byala”) from km 0+400 to km 40+640. Section Length: 40.24 km

The motorway section from Ruse to Byala has a total length of 40.240 km. It is a dual carriage motorway having two traffic lanes plus a hard shoulder in each direction divided by a median strip. The overall width of the motorway is 27 m, and the design speed is 120 km/h.

The section starts at about 3 km from the bridge crossing the Danube River at Ruse, at the road junction with Road II-21 “Ruse – Silistra” and ends at the road junction with Road I-5 “Ruse – Byala” close to the town of Dve Mogili, approximately 40 km away from the starting point.

According to the Preliminary Design, there will be a total of 12 road junctions and viaducts along the Motorway Section:

• Road junction with Road II-21 “Ruse - Silistra” at km 0+580;

• Road junction with Road RSE1130 „(I-2) Ruse – Nikolovo” at km 6+463;

• Road junction with Road I-2 “Ruse – Varna” at km 14+591;

• Road junction with Road III-501 “Besarbovo – Ivanovo” at km 23+282;

• Road junction with Road RSE2107 “(I-5) Ruse – Ivanovo” at km 27+993;

• Road junction with Road I-5 “Ruse – Veliko Tarnovo” at km 40+071.

• Viaduct at km 7+564 over existing railroad;

• Viaduct at km 16+200;

• Viaduct at km 20+912 over Rusenski Lom River;

• Viaduct at km 22+553;

• Viaduct at km 36+901;

• Viaduct at km 39+456.

At the junctions with other roads (with or without interchanges), there will constructed a total of 12 big structures, of which 4 underpasses and 8 overpasses.

There will be a total of 4 cattle/wildlife crossings: 2 overpasses and 2 underpasses
